GOVERNMENT-OWNED RECREATIONAL and leisure facility Ardent Hot Spring Resort (AHSR) in Mambajao town, Camiguin continues to undergo repair and rehabilitation for it to compete with other first-class resorts that have since sprouted in the island.
Run by the municipal government of Mambajao since 1999, and was once under the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA), AHSR’s rehabilitation, costing approximately P6 million, is expected to provide foreign and domestic tourists and guests with a first-class resort facility complete with amenities like comfortable sleeping quarters, conference hall, a good place for group and family picnics, and as a health and wellness haven, says Mayor Ma. Luisa D. Romualdo.
This is especially important as the island-province's potential as a health and wellness destination is spelled out in its Tourism Master Plan, which calls for the transformation of the AHSR into a spa complex, capitalizing on the area's natural hot spring and lush greenery.
